Summary:

The Labor Supervisor coordinates and supervises cleanup of plant buildings and grounds performed by plant employees, utility crew, temporary students and contractors.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Inspects plant to observe jobs that need to be done regarding the maintenance of buildings and plant grounds.
  • Prioritizes, assigns and communicates job duties to employees. Follows up to ensure completion.
  • Coordinates and supervises cleaning and maintenance of plant buildings and grounds.
  • Coordinates and supervises yard and landscape work.
  • Coordinates with other supervisors in the plant regarding staffing needs and works to supply employees to fill those needs.
  • Assists in selection of new hires and temporary help.
  • Prepares required reports, records, and other documentation.
  • Monitors, supervises and evaluates the performance of Utility employees and provides feedback on performance.
  • Mentors' utility employees and provides necessary training to employees to allow for future advancement.
  • Participates in management teams (Safety Steering Committee, ISO14001, Maintenance Planning).
  • Conduct safety meetings for small or large audiences.
  • Fill-in supervisor for Truck Shop activities.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience performing similar or related duties at a cement plant
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, techniques, and standards
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
  • Ability to work under general supervision with specified standards and objectives
  • Ability to refers questionable items to supervisor for the proper procedure for a specified action
  • Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) code
