Assisted Living Chef (Food Services)



Now Hiring: Full time Assisted Living Chef! 11am-7:30pm Monday – Friday; No Weekends!

We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and passionate Chef to join our Assisted Living community. You'll prepare flavorful, nutritious meals that brighten our residents' days and provide comfort, connection, and care.

Up to $21 per hour based on experience

Job Duties of an Assisted Living Chef

  • Chef coordinates food preparation and meal service
  • Plan and initiate cooking schedule
  • Prepare, season, cook assigned meals with high nutritive value, flavor, color, texture and appearance following standardized recipes.
  • Ensures appropriate portioned servings for resident dietary requirements.
  • Prepare all food in accordance with dietary restrictions and/or modifications for each resident.
  • Supervise and support dining servers during meal service to ensure excellent resident experience
  • Prepares nutritional snacks for residents as directed by Director
  • Chef monitors temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met and maintained throughout meal service.
  • Inspect and store food products and supplies properly
  • Cleans equipment and work areas
  • Knowledgeable of Federal, State and the facility's rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Attend in-service educational programs.
  • Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties.

Qualifications of an Assisted Living Chef

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Culinary degree or formal training preferred
  • ServSafe Certification or Food Handler's Permit (or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare or senior living setting
  • Experience with special dietary needs (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, texture-modified diets)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and supervise staff
