Clinical Engineering Supervisor (Finance)



Nemours is seeking a Clinical Engineering Supervisor to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE.

The Clinical Engineering Supervisor supports the Director by overseeing daily operations, supervising Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) and/or Imaging Servicing Engineer (ISE) staff, and ensuring delivery of high-quality service to clinical departments. This role is responsible for daily management systems, work order management, staff development, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. Based on assignment, the supervisor may perform technical repairs or preventative maintenance (PM) on advanced medical or diagnostic imaging equipment, while primarily serving in a leadership and coordination role.

Essential Functions

A. Technical Oversight & Operations

• Supervise repair and maintenance activities by BMET and/or ISE staff.

• Ensure work order distribution is timely, balanced, and well-documented.

• Monitor PM/CM metrics, response times, and closure rates via CMMS dashboards.

• Provide backup technical support for complex or critical devices.

• Ensure technician workspaces are organized and meet regulatory standards.

• Serve in the on-call escalation chain to provide leadership support for urgent service issues, including guidance to on-call technicians.

B. Staff Supervision & Development

• Mentor and coach technicians; facilitate skills development and onboarding.

• Conduct daily huddles to communicate priorities and promote teamwork.

• Assist in succession planning and performance evaluations.

• Provide leadership during technician scheduling, PTO planning, and workload balancing.

C. Reporting & Communication

• Prepare PowerPoint slides or short presentations and dashboards for leadership as necessary.

• Serve as liaison between Clinical Engineering, hospital leadership, and clinical departments.

• Escalate customer complaints as appropriate; ensure resolution and follow-up.

D. Regulatory & Risk Readiness

• Ensure compliance with TJC, FDA, ACR, NFPA 99, CMS, and DNV.

• Conduct internal audits of logs, PM completion, and inventory accuracy.

• Assist with capital equipment planning and contract reviews.

E. Satellite & Clinic Oversight

• Coordinate scheduling and technician coverage for regional clinics and surgical centers.

• Oversee PMs and corrective maintenance at satellite locations.

• Travel as needed for site visits or issue resolution.

F. Continuous Improvement

• Lead departmental projects from planning to execution.

• Identify and implement operational and service enhancements.

• Contribute to departmental performance improvement initiatives.

*This role may supervise BMETs, ISEs, or both depending on departmental needs and supervisor's background.

Requirements

HS Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred

Valid and clean driver's license required

A minimum of three years of preventive and corrective maintenance on multiple modalities of medical equipment and/or imaging equipment is required.

A minimum of three years of experience in supervisory role is required.

Preferred certifications:

• Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)

• Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES)

• Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM)

• Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt
