Job Overview: As the Operations Superintendent, you will be responsible for directing, planning, maintaining and leading daily operations at one of Linde's production facilities located in Ecorse, MI. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of principles and practices within operations, and will provide leadership to drive safety, compliance, reliability, operational excellence, and profitability. Key assets include, but not limited to distillation columns, major electrical distribution equipment, high speed rotating equipment, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas fired heater/vaporizer systems, river water cooling supply systems, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and instrumentation. This position requires a combination of office work and field work. Employee will be required to work in different weather conditions, must be able to access elevated electrical and mechanical equipment via ladder systems, scaffolding and man-lifts, and entry to confined spaces. This is a front-line, hands-on operations role requiring accessibility during off-hours (laptop and cell phone) is required. Approx 5% -10% overnight travel required. Primary Responsibilities: - Manage the safe and reliable operations of a multiple process operations facility in Ecorse, MI. - Responsible for setting daily direction to the production team. - Review and adjust process controls to meet changing customer demand or process requirements. - Troubleshooting plant process or equipment problems and implementing solutions. - Training, and professional development of operations employees. - Assist with annual capital and fixed cost budget development and continuous management of fixed costs. - Tasked with leading special projects within the facility. - Delivers defined goals in annual productivity improvements. - Develop, plan, and execute short, and long-term maintenance plans to ensure reliable, cost-effective operations. - Coordinates major plant maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and project activities with customer needs to minimize potential impact to product supply. - Understands and drives compliance with the operations team to adhere to all internal company policies, programs, procedures, and standards. - Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements which include but are not limited to: FDA, OSHA PSM/RMP, EPA, ISO, and DOT. - Establishes and maintains relationships with suppliers, contractors, and OEMs to ensure plant is adequately supported. - Communicates and collaborates with customer, sales, and management on operational issues. - Engages internal and external support teams for significant projects or technical assistance. - Places high value on team building, collaboration, and effective communications throughout the site and across the Linde organization. - Reacts urgently to plant operations and corrective maintenance issues, garnering the required resources to minimize impact to customers and the business. - Maintains the site QA program, facilitates customer and internal corporate audits. - Lead/Support Root Cause Analysis of major shutdowns and equipment failures to improve future reliability. - Communicates effectively with internal and contract logistics teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient deliveries of bulk product to customers. Qualification Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent technical experience. - Min 3+ years operations experience in Industrial Gases, Chemicals, or Oil & Gas industry. - Min 3+ years operations management experience. - Knowledgeable of rotating/fixed mechanical equipment, electrical distribution systems, instrument, and control systems maintenance/troubleshooting procedures in a process plant environment. - Working knowledge of engineering standards. - Must be a self-starter with the ability to drive execution of projects and strategic and tactical initiatives. - Must possess proven leadership, team building, and decision-making skills. - Must be safety, reliability, and efficiency focused and possess strong planning and maintenance execution skills. - Proven ability to lead and quickly adapt to changing situations. - Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead a diverse and inclusive workforce to achieve desired results. - Exceptional collaboration, presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills. - Must be proficient in the use of MS Office products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Desired Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering. - Previous air separation operations experience. - 5+ years operations management experience. - Green Belt certification.
