Your Mission

As a Senior Rewards Designer you will lead the design and implementation of items and reward systems while creating incentives for players to enjoy the many different areas of the game. You're a creative and critical thinker who enjoys collaborating with and leading teammates to find fun solutions to design challenges. Adventurers across Azeroth are always in search of new treasures. Now is your opportunity to join the World of Warcraft design team to design and implement those treasures!

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, California.

Position Responsibilities:

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Create reward items and systems that guide the players through the game by making the most fun activities the most rewarding activities.
  • Leverage technical experience to balance reward systems in proprietary design tools.
  • Collaborate with WoW's other discipline teams to create a cohesive game experience.
  • Partner with your lead, peers, QA, and producers to plan, implement, document, and test features.
  • Contribute to and participate in our culture of inclusion and diversity.
  • Grow, guide, and mentor other designers on the team

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years experience working in design pipelines for live games or a SaaS product.
  • At least one shipped title or content patch in professional or personal careers
  • A proven understanding of player motivation and rewards in MMOs
  • Previous experience working creatively in a technical implementation environment
  • Demonstrated ability to bring a positive attitude when collaborating cross-functionally with teammates
  • Demonstrated experience with game development best practices in a professional or academic setting

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong math, statistics, and organizational skills
  • An eye for detail and an ability to document
  • Expert knowledge with industry standard tools such as excel, game engines, and other proprietary tools required
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Understanding of World of Warcraft's game systems and how they are rewarded

Extra Points

  • Deep familiarity with World of Warcraft as a player
  • Experience working with the design of RPG systems
  • Familiarity with Excel and/or relational databases

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
