Staff Pharmacist - Express Scripts (Returns Department) (Finance)



Position summary:

The Returns Department receives packages that have been dispensed from any of our PBM pharmacies and returned to Express Scripts due to carrier or patient returns. The Returns Room Pharmacist will retrieve, process, and inspect all packages including reshipping controls to the same patient as applicable. Investigate packages that are being returned by the carrier or by the patient. Corporate, policy and regulatory guidelines are followed to determine if the medication is eligible to reship along with providing the appropriate documentation. Follow control reshipping processes that includes but not limited to performing manual DUR and attempted cancelations to determine change in therapy or unwanted controls. This position requires attention to detail to notice trends for potential pharmacy or carrier related concerns. Follow processes that are event driven such as intercepts, drug recalls, natural disasters, etc. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

This role is located onsite.

Essential functions:

  • Retrieving packages
  • Inspecting integrity of medication and/or overall quality of packaging
  • Hazardous waste identification
  • Containing spills/leaks of medication to prepare order for technicians
  • Open package to review contents
  • Perform manual DUR for controls
  • Approve or deny reshipping order back to patient
  • Follow various SOP's
  • Work with MRT, counterparts in Whitestown, IN to collaborate on processes and/or specific patient returns
  • Identify trends in the pharmacy or with the carrier that may need to be escalated or further researched
  • Contact Doctor and/or Patients specific to DUR or other events leading to clinical discussion

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of ACPE Accreditation School of Pharmacy with a B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D, degree.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience.
  • Current resident pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret prescriptions.
  • Strong focus on customer service, quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage timelines and meet tight client deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule for peak volume times.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
