 COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

  • Operations Analyst II -  Pay Range$ 68,600 - $ 85,750
  • Operations Analyst III -  Pay Range: $ 76,000 - $ 96,900

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Analyst to lead Model Coordination activities within our Operations Support department. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of SPP's operational models that support the Marketplace, Balancing Authority, Reliability Coordination, and Tariff functions.

As an Operations Analyst you will:

Take ownership of developing, implementing, and refining policies, processes, and systems guided by a comprehensive understanding of Attachment AE to the SPP Tariff. You will collaborate with Market Participants, Transmission Owners, Customers, and internal SPP staff to maintain and advance the accuracy and coordination of our operational models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of model coordination policies and systems.
  • Review and approve requested model changes with a strong understanding of power system operations and industry best practices.
  • Manage the coordination and release of models across multiple operational environments.
  • Support the design, execution, and compliance of Service Organization Controls (SOC).
  • Troubleshoot issues related to market registration, settlements, and operational models.
  • Create and monitor metrics to measure the success and efficiency of model coordination efforts.
  • Partner with SPP's Internal Audit to ensure all processes meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior analysts and engineers on the team.
  • Prepare and lead training sessions for team members and stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of model changes, including historical and current updates.
  • Engage with external and internal stakeholders with professionalism and responsiveness.

 To be successful in the role we're looking for:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical or business discipline:  (Two (2) years of relevant job-related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement)
  • Operations Analyst III - Four (4) years of relevant job-related experience (in excess of degree requirement above)
  • Operations Analyst II - Two (2) years of relevant job-related experience (in excess of degree requirement above)
  • Able to handle most types of assignments or tasks independently, regardless of complexity or difficulty; broad knowledge or experience in field; can coach other junior analysts in some assignments or tasks
  • Strong inter-personal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in PC applications (word processor, database, spreadsheet) necessary including familiar with Microsoft Office applications and Project Management concepts and tools.
  • Ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities as well as have motivation to take appropriate expedited action when required.
  • Initiative to stay abreast of industry developments
  • Ability to work with a broad spectrum of individuals with diverse interests when resolving problems
  • Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
  • Demonstrate proficiency in business acumen and professional conduct.

 Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline
  • Four (4) years of relevant job-related experience in assessment and analysis, data analysis, and ad hoc report writing
  • NERC Certification
  • Working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, SPP Criteria, Integrated Marketplace Protocols, and applicable OATT (Tariff), and OATT Business Practices
  • Project Management Experience
  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating markets behavior, and process modeling and improvement

  Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type, Location, and Hours:

  • This is a full-time, onsite hybrid position based in Little Rock, Arkansas. The standard workweek is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours potentially required.

Travel Requirement:

  • This position requires minimal travel (approximately 0-5%).
