Customer Support Representative (Sales)

Previous experience and knowledge of large ag equipment or commercial/turf equipment is welcomed but not required. General Purpose:

The Customer Support Representative is responsible for building customer relationships by traveling to customer locations to perform follow-up activities on complete goods, parts and service sales, address customer concerns, promote aftermarket sales, furnish technical support where applicable and collect profiling information in order to enhance the customer experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Markets parts and service sales such as extended warranties, maintenance plans, machine inspections, overhauls, standard job quotes, and special parts promotions.
  • Identifies all aftermarket and new sales opportunities and communicates lead information accordingly.
  • Performs follow-up calls at customer locations on complete goods and major parts and service.
  • Addresses customer concerns and resolves problems effectively and satisfactorily.
  • Profiles customer's machines, vehicles, and demographic information, and updates in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database as necessary.  
  • Participates in product presentations at customer clinics and meetings held outside the dealership.
  • Assists the Sales department with after sales calls to ensure equipment operates to the customer's satisfaction.
  • Provides limited technical support where applicable.
  • Assists with parts deliveries to customers and dealerships as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of AVE-PLP.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of AVE-PLP's DNA.
  • Ability to act in a positive and professional manner while working with peers, AVE-PLP management, customers, and support resources.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to deliver a high-level customer experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with AVE - PLP staff and customers.
  • Ability to promote and develop effective communication in AVE - PLP staff.
  • Knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret sales data and reports.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent is required.
  • Associate's Degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Two or more years of experience in an agricultural or turf related role with involvement in activities such as sales, service, training, or other related work is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen will be required prior to the start of employment.

  • Work is generally performed in a professional office environment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the work location.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work may involve long and/or flexible hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings. 
  • Travel to customers, conferences, meetings, and store locations including on a frequent basis is required and often includes overnight trips.

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, walk on unpaved terrain, talk, reach with arms and hands, have good manual dexterity, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel, hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. 
  • Moderate physical activity required by moving and positioning objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
