Internal and Executive Communications Manager (Project Management)

Leidos QTC Health Services (LQTC) is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Internal and Executive Communications Manager to lead LQTC's internal communications and executive messaging function. This critical role is responsible for developing and executing communications that foster employee connection, engagement, and alignment with LQTC's mission, values, and business priorities.

The role directly supports LQTC's CEO and senior leadership team by crafting high-impact communications and managing key internal channels, while also leading initiatives that enhance the employee experience and drive internal culture-building efforts. The successful candidate will partner closely with senior leaders across the organization and the broader Leidos Health & Civil Sector Communications team to ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and aligned with LQTC's strategic objectives. This role includes direct supervision of a communications team, providing leadership, coaching, and development to support high-quality internal communications delivery.

We're seeking a strong writer, creative thinker, and organized project manager with proven experience supporting senior executives, creating people-centered communications, and leading complex projects with agility and precision.

This position is intended to be performed from a Leidos office, with a preference for candidates based in or within commuting distance of:

    • Reston, Va. (Leidos Global Headquarters)
    • San Antonio, Texas.

Primary Responsibilities:

    • Develop and manage internal communications plans and deliverables that inform, engage, and align employees with LQTC's culture, goals, and priorities.
    • Lead internal executive communications for the LQTC CEO and senior leadership team, including drafting and coordinating employee messages, town hall scripts, leadership updates, and presentations.
    • Collaborate with business and functional stakeholders to assess communication needs, define messaging, select channels, determine timing, and tailor communications for specific audiences.
    • Ghostwrite for executives, capturing authentic leadership voice and tone.
    • Manage internal communications channels, including intranet, newsletters, leadership emails, and town hall content, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging content.
    • Proactively support leadership visibility and employee engagement by identifying opportunities for direct connection and proposing communication strategies and content.
    • Partner with Human Resources on internal communications related to performance management, benefits, learning initiatives, and organizational updates.
    • Advise LQTC senior leadership on internal communications strategy and best practices.
    • Provide communications support (e.g., planning, emceeing, facilitating Q&A) for virtual and in-person employee events and initiatives.
    • Develop and deliver employee engagement campaigns and programs that foster inclusion, affinity, and belonging.
    • Identify and tell compelling employee and business stories that highlight company values, reinforce culture, and build affinity.
    • Lead change communications strategies for organizational initiatives, ensuring clear, empathetic messaging that helps employees understand and adapt to change.
    • Measure and analyze internal communications effectiveness using surveys, analytics, and employee feedback; provide insights and recommendations to leadership.
    • Coordinate employee volunteerism and community involvement opportunities with internal stakeholders.
    • Support internal crisis communications as needed, ensuring timely, accurate, and sensitive messaging.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping messaging approaches aligned with organizational goals and employee needs.
    • Participate in meetings to gather insights and identify communication opportunities.
    • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and mentorship to communications team members, supporting development, performance management, and project execution.
    • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field required.
    • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in communications, preferably in internal and executive communications roles.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling messaging.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives deadlines.
    • Proven ability to partner with and support senior executives with discretion, professionalism, and tact.
    • Experience managing internal communications channels, with technical proficiency to learn and administer intranet and workflow management tools.
    • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
    • High attention to detail, organization, and responsiveness.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with foresight, initiative, and flexibility.
    • Familiarity with AP style and/or ability to adopt Leidos tone and style guidelines.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and comfort with learning new platforms.

Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Prior experience in internal communications and employee engagement preferred.
    • Knowledge of corporate communications best practices preferred.
    • Experience with web design, UX best practices, and basic HTML (preferred but not required.)
    • Experience in a government contractor, healthcare, or regulated corporate environment preferred.
    • Experience using collaborative software and workflow management tools preferred.

    This role may fall under the Service Contract Act (SCA), a federal law which provides for a U.S. Department of Labor-prescribed minimum prevailing rate of pay and certain benefit levels.
