Location: Milwaukee, WI

We believe that being in-office together strengthens relationships, builds trust, and fosters teamwork, creating a culture where both careers and our company thrive. Currently, our in-office schedule is Tuesday through Thursday in our beautiful, newly renovated, historic building in downtown Milwaukee at 648 N. Plankinton Avenue. Beginning September 1, 2025, we will transition to an in-office schedule of Monday through Thursday, with Friday as an optional work-from-home day, balancing collaboration and flexibility. Additionally, our dress code is always Business Casual, ensuring a professional yet comfortable work environment.

Summary - basic function of the role

The Senior IT Infra structure Engineer is a pivotal member of the IT team, responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure services across global enterprise environments. This role demands deep expertise in Linux and Windows server administration, advanced virtualization (VMware), enterprise storage, basic network infrastructure knowledge , and disaster recovery planning. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, strong technical acumen, and hands-on experience managing complex, hybrid IT environments.

This role supports critical business systems and drives innovation across core infrastructure platforms including Enterprise Linux systems (RedHat/CentOS/Ubuntu), SAN/NAS solutions, VMware vSphere/vCenter, Enterprise backup and DR solutions, Basic knowledge of networking . The engineer will collaborate with global IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure highly available and compliant infrastructure aligned with corporate and security standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Day to Day Support:

  • Design, deploy, and manage Linux and Windows Server environments, ensuring optimal security, performance, and reliability
  • Administered and maintained Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Oracle Linux servers, including patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting production issues
  • Architect and administer VMware vSphere infrastructure (vCenter, ESXi , HA/DRS, vSAN )
  • Engineer and manage enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS), including provisioning, zoning, replication, snapshots, tiering, and performance tuning
  • Administer and support enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam), including offsite replication and recovery testing
  • Basic knowledge of network support, including L2/L3 switching (Extreme, Cisco), VLANs, subnetting, trunking , routing, and spanning tree .
  • Basic knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, including SD-WAN, IPsec VPNs, NAT policies, and security profiles
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis for servers, storage, and networks, ensuring optimal system health and uptime
  • Perform regular system patching, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediations across Linux, Windows, and hypervisor platforms
  • Maintain detailed infrastructure documentation, including system architecture, recovery procedures, runbooks, and change control
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex L2/L3 infrastructure incidents, working with vendors and cross-functional teams
  • Assist in lifecycle management of datacenter assets from provisioning and imaging to decommissioning and secure disposal
  • Participate in IT projects and lead infrastructure-related workstreams across multiple sites and time zones.

Educat ion and Experience

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Certifications in relevant technical areas are preferred ( Microsoft Certified: Azure Administration or Solutions Architect Expert, VMware Certified - VCP-DCV , CCNE/ CCNP, RHCE, VMCE )

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 1 0+ years of progressive enterprise infrastructure experience, including hands-on management of Azure workloads (IaaS/PaaS compute, mixed Linux/Windows , s torage, networking, and security) in production environments
  • Advanced Linux system administration skills including shell scripting, system , file systems, performance tuning, and SELinux
  • Managed enterprise Linux infrastructure on RHEL and Oracle Linux platforms, supporting system upgrades, security hardening, and application deployments
  • Strong experience with VMware vSphere/vCenter 7.x/8.x, including vSAN , HA, DRS, host profiles, and VM lifecycle management
  • Expert-level experience with enterprise SAN/NAS platforms (e.g., Dell PowerStore ) - zoning, LUNs, multipathing, snapshots
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 , Azure, Exchange Online, Intune, Azure AD and Azure IaaS/PaaS administration
  • Strong experience with enterprise backup/DR solutions (Veeam preferred), including policy-based backups and DR testing
  • Scripting and automation with Bash, PowerShell or Python for routine task automation and infrastructure as code.
  • Familiarity with Citrix virtual apps/desktops and profile optimization (a plus)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across system, network, and storage layers
  • Ability to design and recommend scalable infrastructure architectures, including hybrid on-prem/cloud models
  • Strong documentation, communication, problem-solving , and cross-functional collaboration skills

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is a cornerstone of our IT, responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining the company's core compute , storage, virtualization, and disaster ‐ recovery platforms.

This senior ‐ level role requires deep technical expertise in Linux and Windows server administration, VMware/SAN ‐ NAS architectures, basic enterprise network , and combined with a customer ‐ focused mindset and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will partner closely with global teams and vendors, proactively analyze and resolve complex infrastructure incidents, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our environment remains secure, resilient, and scalable.

Physical Demands

Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time.

Work Environment

Primary work environment is temperature-controlled office setting but may also be visiting different manufacturing facilities where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required . Employee will be exposed to low levels of noise in an office.
