Position Overview

Support Wintrust's Corporate Risk Management department in executing ERM activities including risk identification and assessments, policy and committee governance, and operational risk oversight for ERM activities.  Through collaboration, help the ERM team in developing a holistic view of risk across the Bank to ensure key risks are identified, measured, monitored, managed and reported in line with company policies and regulatory expectations.  Actively participate in the development and execution of the Company's long-term ERM strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Enhance risk and control self-assessments, policies and procedures to help ensure risks are identified, measured, monitored, managed and reported. 

  • Assist in the development of a forward-looking, formalized process of risk limits, metrics and thresholds and the timely and accurate identification, escalation, and resolution of risk limit breaches. 

  • Support the administration of ERM's database of businesses, processes, risks, scoring, follow-up action plans, policies, procedures, controls, key risk indicators, issues and actions, etc. (within the Resolver GRC tool).

  • Assist in the design, development, and production of Wintrust's ERM reporting and analytics.  Ensure consistency in the reporting across the enterprise.  Incorporate industry best-practices, regulatory guidance, and peer information to continuously improve and innovate report content and quality.  Increase focus on Wintrust's risk data aggregation capabilities, ultimately resulting in enhanced KRIs and improved management and ERM reporting.

  • Coordinate, maintain, revise, update ERM program documentation (policy, procedures, ERM reporting).  Research and suggest program documentation revisions to incorporate industry best practices, regulatory guidelines, and internal/external developments affecting Wintrust's businesses and processes. 

  • Help to revise and improve Wintrust's risk assessment methodology and individual risk assessments to ensure they capture current and emerging risks, developing industry best practices, and regulatory protocols.

Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience in a financial institution or in a regulatory capacity and/or possess a business/banking education background.

  • Familiarity with/basic understanding of: Various risk categories (Credit, Liquidity, Operational, etc.), 3 Lines of Defense, Statement of Risk Appetite/Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Risks and Controls, Policies and Procedures, Overall Risk Culture.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Experience in working with analytical tools/platforms (Resolver GRC tool, Workiva, SurveyMonkey) used for data analytics and performing risk assessments.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $59,000-$77,000, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate's qualifications, skills and experience.
