REGULATORY SPECIALIST ll (Manufacturing)



KENT® Precision Foods Group (KPFG), a member of KENT Worldwide™ is seeking a Regulatory Specialist ll to support regulatory compliance for our Consumer Brands portfolio, with a strong focus on pet products. This role involves creating ingredient statements, nutrition panels, product specifications, and reviewing label artwork. The position requires collaboration across teams and up-to-date knowledge of FDA, USDA, and AAFCO regulations, as well as support for international compliance.

  • This is a salaried position with a complete benefit package.
  • The compensation range for this role is $73,000- $83,000, in addition to KENT standard benefits (health, dental, vision, 401k). Final compensation is subject to variation based on the candidate's skills, job responsibilities, location and other pertinent factors. 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and act on label documentation, nutritional and claim reviews for both pet and food products.
  • Create, manage and update all appropriate regulatory documents (ex: allergen, GMO, Country of Origin, % range breakdown, customer questionnaires, gluten, Proposition 65, SDS, etc.)
  • Create and/or assist in label creation and review process.
  • Develop preliminary specifications and ingredient approvals for all new product development.
  • Review and substantiate product claims.
  • Review and submit products for third party certifications such as Kosher and Halal.
  • Generate finished good specifications that include ingredient statements, allergen information, nutrition, directions for use, packaging information, claims, etc.
  • Coordinate the regulatory aspects of international and exported products.
  • Support internal and external customer inquiries regarding nutrition, labeling, ingredients and claims.
  • Review and maintain data for ingredients and formulas in product life cycle management system.
  • Keep current with both FDA and USDA government food/labeling regulations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Research and Development, Quality, and other departments to ensure compliance in the marketplace.
    • Update appropriate departments and/or members of the company regarding future government regulation changes/updates (definite and/or pending) that will/may affect KPFG's products.
  • Utilize systems appropriate to the work assigned such as ProductVision, TraceGains, Decernis, Codsoft, etc.
  • Maintain orderly files for correspondence and reports related to the responsibilities.
  • Ability to work proactively and handle increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Maintain and update ingredient files.
  • Travel to customers, trade shows, industry events, customer events, company meetings, etc. as needed.
  • Keep current with new technologies and industry trends and regulations.
  • Mentor less senior members of department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Dietetics or related field required with 5+ years of experience in Regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and other Power Platforms and understanding of reporting.
  • Proven success in regulation processing for food and/or pet industries (FDA, USDA, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to partner in project with internal and external clients, as well as support implementation at KENT facilities.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on building collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and able to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.
  • Team player with cooperative, collaborative style supported by good listening and partnering skills.
  • Physically fit for work in an office, lab/test kitchen.

TRAVEL: 

  • Travel up to 10% of the time
