Athletic Trainer - Spirit Squad (Finance)



The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University's mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution.

This position typically reports to the Head Athletic Trainer, Director, Intercollegiate Athletics, or appropriate higher level administrator in the athletic department. This position may be responsible for administering and/or supervising one phase or assisting in all phases of the athletic training programs to include both women's and men's offerings at the university or at an area high school.This position requires a Master's degree from an accredited university; Certified by, or certification eligible for, the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC); and licensed, or eligible for licensure, as an athletic trainer in the state of Florida.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

  • Provides medical care to intercollegiate or high school athletes, including daily evaluations, emergency care, treatments, rehabilitation sessions, and attending all practices and games.
  • \n
  • Develops injury prevention programs, which may include use of modalities, therapeutic exercises, reconditioning exercises, and fitness programs.
  • \n
  • Uses specialized software to track and develop athletes' injury and medication profiles. Provides insurance information for sports injuries treated by physician.
  • \n
  • Acts as a liaison between family physicians, specialists, school, athletes and their parents.
  • \n
  • Provides athletic training services to athletes at community events, under the direction of supervising physician.
  • \n
  • Promotes and teaches sports safety; participates in sports-related community fund raising events.

  • Flexible schedule due to athletics events and practices, travel required
