AVP, Service Line Administrator – Radiology (Finance)



Nemours is seeking an AVP Service Line Administrator (Radiology) (Full-Time), to join our Nemours team in Jacksonville or Orlando, Florida.

Reporting directly to the ORL Chair of Radiology and JAX Chair of Radiology and indirectly to the VP Florida Practice, the Assistant Vice President, Service Line Administrator of FL Radiology Practice will maintain a strategically focused service line, which supports the organization's growth, innovation and transformation initiatives for key department/programs. This position has primary responsibility to drive operational and academic excellence as well as program growth and provide administrative, operational, and business function leadership for the Florida Practice Radiology Department. Emphasis on coordinating efficiencies, access, and goals with Nemours Children's Hospital, Hospital Partnerships, and Jacksonville and Pensacola Specialty Care. The AVP provides effective oversight for programs, services, locations, and staff under the service line structure and functions as a member of the senior practice and hospital leadership team.

This position is responsible for leading all administrative, operational, and business functions of the Radiology Department, which includes clinical, research, educational and financial goals. In addition, this position will oversee all other business functions for the Departments, including those related to human resources; patient access, IR ambulatory operations, billing and patient satisfaction; clinical program assessment and development; operating and capital budgeting and quality improvement as it pertains to the business and financial operations. This leader will provide and leverage market intelligence to support decision-making and to inform growth for the Florida Radiology service line. This position will be instrumental to the establishment of long-term strategy in Radiology.

Job Responsibilities will include:

Fiscal Leadership

  • Works collaboratively with the Orlando, Jacksonville and Pensacola VPs of Finance and Accounting, Revenue Cycle, Clinical Affairs, Research Operations, clinical providers, and other key stakeholders in the execution of fiscal responsibilities.
  • Develop and manage data and development of annual budgets, strategies, and projects in alignment of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Ensures pricing, contract and collection practices and policies within the clinical (hospital and professional) operations are appropriate, supporting the maximization of realized revenue while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure policies and procedures support the accurate and complete capture of physician billings, combined billings and hospital fees.
  • Establish metrics for department, divisional clinical productivity (such as RVUs, billing revenue per FTE) and monitor actual performance against established metrics.
  • Manage revenue and operational oversight for Radiology Partnerships.
  • Develop and monitor cost-containment strategies that drive greatest value for patients, families, and organization while creating financial sustainability.

Patient Access, Satisfaction, and Safety
  • Responsible for participation in departmental, divisional and hospital programs for quality assessment and improvement, identifying opportunities to ensure top quality outcomes, improve the patient and family service experience, assuring patient and associate safety, making recommendations, and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours.
  • Responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and optimizing patient access to clinical care delivered by the departments.
  • Will monitor performance against access targets and physician standards for clinic scheduling and wait times.
  • Develop and implement improvement interventions when warranted.

Operational Leadership
  • In partnership with FL Radiology Department Leadership and in collaboration with enterprise radiology leaders throughout the Nemours system; spearhead the integration of the Radiology Department's vision, mission and strategic plan into all aspects of the culture; develop and implement strategic and operational plans focused on the growth in clinical, academic, and research programs; and drive execution of the strategic plan.
  • Integrate and coordinate resources and operations of the various reporting units and divisions that represent the direct composition of the service line and administrative business unit.
  • Serve as the direct liaison to the various Vice-Presidents and Department Chairs, associated Vice-Presidents and senior managers to promote the service line's success, while promoting the broader institutional success of these supporting Departments and Nemours.
  • Serve as the clinical service's administrative representative on appropriate committees.
  • Provide reports and presentations of key performance metrics as defined by the executive team.
  • Work with NCH Delaware Valley counterpart to ensure systemness on strategic initiatives across the enterprise radiology team.
  • Directly manage practice administrative roles across the Florida Radiology Practice, including executive/division coordinators, radiology schedulers, radiology authorization, radiology support coordinators, teleradiology program roles, contracted physicians, contracted ancillary staff as well as other professional level staff as defined by the FL Radiology Department Chairs or Site Practice Administrator. AVP is committed to teaching, coaching, and mentoring as well as Performance Management evaluations.

Planning and Program Development
  • Working with VP Strategy and Business Development and leadership in both Central Florida and North Florida regions, develop and execute plans to drive growth in Radiology Services aligned with Nemours strategy. Plans will include development of new clinical, research and translational programs directed at increasing volumes and market share, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing research and financial results while continuously monitoring and evaluating existing programs for improvement opportunities.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to grow radiology partnerships both regionally and beyond, to increase complex radiology volumes and align with our strategy to grow our Nemours footprint.
  • Working with clinical operations, Finance, and Strategy teams to ensure assumptions related to patient volumes, physician staffing, clinical production, research funding and capital investments that underlie the institute's plan are fully aligned with the Nemours budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans.
  • Working with the Clinical Affairs, Finance, Marketing, Budget and Planning teams, ensure assumptions related to patient volumes, physician staffing, clinical production, research funding and capital investments that underlie the service line's plan are fully aligned with the Nemours budgets, forecasts and long-range plans. Coordinate, plan and integrate clinic and office space needs for divisions with Facilities.
  • Coordinate, plan and integrate Radiology Reading space and Interventional Radiology clinic and office space needs for department with Facilities.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve USNWR rankings.
  • Leverage systemness to improve operational efficiencies and growth.
  • Intrastate travel required.

Personnel Management
  • In conjunction with the Regional Presidents, VP Florida Administrator, VP of Finance, Human Resources, Chairs, CMOs and the Site Administrators as appropriate, oversee compensation matters including coordination with HR for and compliance with established Nemours procedures for offer letters, reporting of the results of annual compensation reviews and other matters to the Compensation Committee. Develop and manage staffing plans and associated proformas to adherence to business plans.
  • Provide administrative leadership to all direct and indirect reporting personnel in the Florida Radiology Practice.
  • Assess, develop, implement, and maintain appropriate divisional policies, procedures, job descriptions and philosophy as consistent with Nemours policies and values.
  • Responsible for all planning and implementation related to accrediting requirements and associated requirements specific to the Departments.
  • Understand, adhere to and model Core Standards as defined organizationally and specifically within the Departments.
  • Provide mentorship to associates who report to this position to include career development and educational opportunities.

Job Requirements
  • Master's degree required in a graduate business or health administration discipline is required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience required.
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively with physicians and executive administration.
  • Travel is required to multiple locations.
