Geotechnical Engineer (Finance)

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join an established and growing multi-national mining engineering team. As the selected candidate, you will provide technical support for projects across the United States (US), Canada, Chile, and other locations and help support business development. The position may report to any of our U.S. offices and is open to remote/hybrid work arrangements.

In this position, you will provide geotechnical engineering on surface mining projects, including tailings facilities and open pits. Project work may also include mine reclamation engineering and other environmental projects such as sediment remediation, waterfront structures, or in situ solidification and stabilization depending on qualifications. Work will entail a mixture of feasibility studies, design, construction quality assurance, and business development. This is a great opportunity to join a team and offer mentorship to our diverse group of geotechnical engineers while working on large and complex projects across the US and around the world.

Role accountabilities:

  • Join our Mining Sector Team as a key participant
  • Provide technical leadership to engineering teams
  • Perform geotechnical engineering reviews and provide key input on critical projects
  • Apply engineering principles to develop effective solutions
  • Mentor and develop mid-level and junior staff
  • Identify and pursue business growth opportunities
  • Act as or become Engineer of Record on appropriate projects

Preferred technical proficiencies:
  • Mine highwall investigations and slope stability analysis
  • Mine tailings dam siting, design and evaluations including material stack design and operation and maintenance
  • Field and laboratory geotechnical testing methods, techniques, and results interpretation
  • Geotechnical investigation, monitoring methods and techniques
  • Construction monitoring, testing and documentation
  • Soft-ground mechanics and stabilization techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or closely related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Limited travel is required (up to 10%)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or closely related field
  • OSHA HAZWOPER training
  • MSHA training
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D,ArcGIS Pro
  • Modelling expertise (e.g., GeoStudio, FLAC, PLAXIS)

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $88,580- $132,870.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
