Public Relations Specialist (Finance)



The Public Relations Specialist supports public relations and external communication initiatives for the firm and individual markets/business lines. The candidate will be expected to support the other members of the PR team as well as lead their own markets and/or strategic communications initiatives. The role also supports key internal communication campaigns and strategies. We are looking for a well-rounded individual who is a strong writer, passionate about media pitching and building brand reputations, pays attention to details, is excited about taking on new challenges and is eager to learn and grow. Specific Responsibilities:

This role focuses on five key areas:
  • Developing a wide variety of brand consistent, engaging content for both external and internal audiences. You will be writing project profiles, website content, social media and blog posts, press releases, newsletters and employee-focused messages, to name a few.
  • Identifying and reaching out to target industry and national publications, developing "pitches," tracking editorial calendars, and managing PR distribution lists.
  • Researching executive speaking and interview opportunities, supporting industry award submission processes.
  • Executing and measuring communication strategies. In addition to managing communication projects and initiatives, you'll work with website content management systems and social media channels and campaigns. You'll also dive deep into analytics, monitoring media placements and share of voice to determine the effectiveness of campaigns.

  • Planning, supporting and managing events of all sizes, including town hall meetings, the firm's annual internal Celebration, industry events, and client or project milestones.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Media relations experience at public relations agency or background as a journalist is a strong plus.
    • Interest or experience in the architecture, engineering and construction industry; involvement in industry organizations is a plus.
    • Working knowledge of communications/public relations practices and principles.
    • Familiarity with marketing and branding practices and principles.
    • Exceptional writing portfolio and experience writing and copyediting according to AP style.
    • Social media content development and management experience, preferably in a B2B setting.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Communication
      • Strong writing skills and knowledge of proper grammar and punctuation.
      • Intimate familiarity with AP style is highly preferred.
      • Ability to listen to, and understand, information and ideas presented, as well as communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing.
    • Time Management
      • Demonstrated time management skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently on multiple tasks and effectively prioritize work under tight deadlines.
      • Ability to track and follow up on multiple, time-sensitive deliverables without supervision.
    • Technical Expertise
      • Knowledge of-or ability to learn-website content management systems and native social media analytics.
      • Ability to operate office equipment such as personal computers and printers. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Professional Environment:
      • Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships and commitment to teamwork.
      • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Ability to follow standard operations, policies and procedures of the firm.
      • Ability to lead and manage meetings, including creating and guiding agendas.
    • Education:
      • Bachelor's degree in Communications/ Integrated Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or related field.
      • Minimum of four years of relevant experience.

    The willingness to travel, including overnight stays, is required for this role. Travel is estimated at approximately 15% and may vary throughout the year. The first quarter is typically the busiest travel season; however travel throughout the year is dependent on project and event schedules.
