Job Description
Primary Function of Position

The Senior Analyst Logistics Compliance Operations - Americas is responsible for daily import and export operations and activities, processes, policies, and procedures within the region. He/she will serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries on the import, export, and trade regulations. This individual will work with the customs brokers and forwarders to ensure compliance with applicable company policies and import/export regulations while ensuring the expeditious flow of goods. This individual will provide training to employees involved in international trade.

Essential Job Duties

  • Perform import/export activities in compliance with government rules and regulations, organizational policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Manage the daily trade compliance operations for the import/ export transactions within the region by working with customs brokers, carriers, forwarders, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate clearance process.
  • Monitor transactions for compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations, sanctions and embargoes, and anti-boycott regulations; authorize and resolve transaction holds, escalate transaction holds to supervisor for further resolution.
  • Respond to and action inquiries from internal and external partners and agencies regarding additional information required for customs clearance, government agency holds, and requests.
  • Effectively interact and respond to all government inquiries (CF28/29, PGA) in a factual and timely manner.
  • Maintain ACH processing for duty and tax payments.
  • Assist in all activities and documentation related to maintaining compliance requirements for valuation (assists), trade preferential and non-preferential, duty suspension, drawback, and economical customs procedures where applicable.
  • Provide support and guidance to internal and external customers for import and export shipments including hand carry and carnet shipments to meet regulatory requirements with the government agencies, i.e. Customs, Health Authorities (FDA), Agricultural agency, Department of Commerce and other global customs agencies.
  • Shared responsibility for determination of import/ export classification and country or origin for imported/ exported products across multiple business units, including maintenance of the product database.
  • Ensure the Importer Security Filing (ISF) for inbound ocean freight is submitted by the customs broker accurately and timely.
  • Manage and audit import/ export recordkeeping completeness and accuracy to ensure compliance with the company record retention policy and international trade regulations.
  • Perform pre- or post-entry audits on the shipping documentation and customs declaration. Make corrections if required. Responsible for Post Entry Summary Correction program. Prepare Customs reconciliations.
  • Support manual creation of shipping documentation including, but not limited to, shipping invoices, packing list, shipper's letter of instruction, and other required certifications, including filing the export declaration through ACE.
  • Conduct Denied Party Screening and Embargo and Sanctions Control for off-system transactions.
  • Create and maintain customs brokers / forwarders POA and SOPs, including the POA from FPPI in the routes export transaction.
  • Monitor freight forwarders and customs brokers and evaluate adherence to Intuitive brokerage SOP and metrics. Lead and follow up with documented corrective action related to monthly brokerage metrics reports. Maintain broker and forwarder scorecard.
  • Develop and generate compliance and service provider performance reports for management.
  • Interact with IT and Center of Excellence (COE) to streamline and improve import/ export data for compliance; provide justification, business requirements, development, and assist with testing and solutions implementation.
  • Maintains adherence to and assist with the yearly validation for Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).
  • Identify key opportunities for continuous process/ system improvements, implement solutions to eliminate identified compliance deficiencies.
  • Create, communicate, and maintain import/ export manuals, policies and procedures, and trade compliance guidelines.
  • Monitor regulation changes, understand enforcement practices, update procedures accordingly and communicate as applicable.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects relating to logistics/ trade compliance.
  • Provide training to other functional groups on import and export requirements.
  • Participate in various cost savings initiatives and strategic planning sessions to support Intuitive strategic goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to build awareness and internal partnerships for Intuitive Logistics Compliance activity.
  • Conduct and report findings of internal risk assessments. Follow-up with Compliance Improvement Plans.
  • Perform other duties, tasks, special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
  • Direct experience and knowledge of Trade Compliance principles (customs valuation, incoterms, license and permits, country of origin, HTS/ ECCN classifications, duty optimization / Free Trade Agreements, export controls and sanctions etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, other government agencies (FDA, USDA, etc.) importing regulations, EAR & Census Trade requirements.
  • Experience in managing Logistics Service Providers and/or Compliance Consultants.
  • Strong analytical and change management skills, critical thinking, and problem solving with experience in risk management processes and gap analysis.
  • Strong working experience with databases, enterprise resource planning (ERP), global trade automation solutions, and the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) functionality.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with ability to multi-task and minimal guidance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and present effectively and persuasively at all levels.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence others through demonstrated expertise. Ability to manage multiple cross-organizational projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver creative and practical solutions to solve complex logistics and impact of current and potential regulatory compliance issues.
  • Strong ability to create innovative solutions from existing resources.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently to make effective decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage and drive changes.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and implement appropriately.
  • U.S. Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or eligible work permit.

Required Education and Training
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, international business, or similar.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of international trade experience, focusing primarily on international logistics and trade compliance in medical devices.
  • Licensed Customs Broker - U.S. or similar professional trade certifications.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Understanding and experience with the importation and exportation of medical devices.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining Global Trade Management (GTM) Software.
  • Experience in SAP S4/ HANA and related transactional and outputs are preferred.
  • Previous customs compliance experience is preferred.
  • Six-Sigma experienced or CPIM preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish is a plus.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $117,300 USD - $168,700 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $99,700 USD - $143,500 USD
