Summary:

Operate the truck scale system to ticket customer trucks. Set up trucks with the correct billing and job information as needed. Assist other office staff with administrative tasks, answering phones, entering payroll, accounts payable, electric use, fuel use, and other daily job cost items into the enterprise accounting system.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for weighing materials and keep records of items prepared, shipped, transferred, and received.
  • Monitor supplies and maintain records of operations.
  • Maintain, monitor, and clean work areas.
  • Weigh vehicles, sample inbound materials, maintain inbound and outbound scaling documentation, review loads and paperwork for inbound and outbound vehicles, and upkeep scale house and scales.
  • Operate scale system that services the Denniston Quarry, the Flint Rail Yard, and the Lansing Rail Yard
  • Communicate with and direct trucks in the quarry yard as needed
  • Answer phones
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Enter payroll daily
  • Process invoices for payment as needed
  • Enter job cost components (fuel use, electric use, etc.) daily
  • Various administrative and office duties when needed
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site in proper work attire ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to all Safety Practices & Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to all company policies and procedures as outlined in the book of company policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Requirements:
  • Safety conscious, self-motivated, proficient communication skills, long-term career goals, exceptional work ethic
  • Computer literate, familiar with Word, Excel, Outlook,
  • Able to communicate professionally with customers
  • Able to learn the phone system and answer phones
  • Attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and the ability to adhere to a business casual dress code.
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Experience dealing with customers and handling money

Physical Demands:

This position requires walking, standing and sitting.
