WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Product Engineer on the Solutions Management team, you'll be instrumental in guiding product development and managing our solution portfolio, ensuring our offerings align with customer and market demands.

As part of our Product Development team, the Product Engineer for Connectivity and Network solutions is a highly technical role responsible for driving the development and delivery of our managed service products. Working in an Agile environment with a hybrid work model this engineer focuses on innovation, quality, and cross-functional collaboration. The role involves using Agile tools (Jira, Confluence) and QA/testing platforms to ensure product excellence. As part of the Solutions Management team, the Product Engineer contributes to customer-focused solutions, integrating networking technologies (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, Ericsson, Digi) and ensuring our services (SD-WAN, SASE, ZTNA) meet high standards of performance and reliability.

Product Focus Area: Connectivity, Networking Solutions

Major duties and responsibilities:

Solution Design & Integration:

  • Design and engineer integrated solutions that combine hardware, software, and network services to meet specific client requirements.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate hardware and software components for our managed service offerings.
  • Develop detailed technical specifications, diagrams, and documentation for our solutions.
  • Ensure seamless integration between different networking technologies and overlay services such as SD-WAN, SASE, ZTNA and their respective monitoring, alerting, and reporting platforms.

Testing & Validation:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate the functionality, performance, and security of our solutions.
  • Identify and document defects and work with vendors to resolve issues.
  • Perform load testing and performance optimization to ensure scalability and reliability.
  • Ensure solutions meet all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for our solutions, including design specifications, configuration guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Develop and deliver training materials to internal teams and clients.
  • Share your knowledge and expertise with other team members.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standard operating procedures.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the managed services industry and across the technology landscape.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the performance, reliability, and security of our solutions.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies to enhance our service offerings.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept testing and pilot deployments of new technologies.
  • Provide engineering support during product launches and operations, troubleshooting complex issues in connectivity and network platforms to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and customer-focus within the engineering team by mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practices in software and telecom development.

Agile Participation:

  • Actively lead and participate in Agile workstreams to ensure alignment with team goals and efficient execution.
  • Collaborate with product managers to define requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide technical feedback and insights during sprint planning and reviews.
  • Service as technical liaison between internal stakeholders and boundary partners

WHO YOU ARE

To perform this role successfully, the Product Engineer must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, education, and overall experience required for the role.  

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in a software, network, or product engineering role, preferably within a managed services or networking technology environment.
  • Strong experience with Agile development practices and tools (Jira, Confluence) for project tracking and collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience with QA/testing frameworks and tools, with the ability to design and execute test cases ensuring product quality.
  • Familiarity with networking and security technologies, such as Fortinet security appliances and Cisco network solutions.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting and understanding of system integration, with an ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Innovative and analytical mindset for troubleshooting and optimizing product performance, with a customer-focused approach to solutions.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams and a passion for sharing knowledge.

Preferred Certifications

  • Technical Certifications: Fortinet, Cisco, CradlePoint, Google, AWS, Azure, CISSP,
  • ITIL Foundation, PMP, CAPM
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent
