Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employees are held accountable for all duties of the job. Individuals must be able to perform these duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Works individually and in partnership with others to develop, arrange, deliver, and promote general and specialized retirement education programs for members, benefit recipients, and affiliated employers through various digital channels, including webinars and recorded sessions.

  • Utilizes advanced instructional techniques, including adult learning theories and behavioral finance principles, to deliver interactive and impactful educational experiences.

  • Performs day-to-day account management with assigned employers and stakeholders. Proactively engages with employers and other stakeholders to determine their needs including member education, recruiting, and retention.

  • Collaborates internally to ensure high quality employer service. Communicates with leadership to ensure client communication strategies align with company goals

  • Builds a strong understanding of PERA's benefits, retirement plans, insurance programs, retirement readiness, financial security, and the strength of PERA's trust funds.

  • Accurately and professionally communicates PERA's benefit plans, insurance programs, retirement readiness strategies, and financial security concepts in a clear and engaging manner to people of diverse social, economic, and educational backgrounds.

  • Responsible for understanding broader organizational and divisional priorities, vision, and strategic plan. Visibly supports management decisions and change efforts among teammates, other divisions, members, employers, and other stakeholders. Acts for the greater good.

  • Follows established operational and procedures related to service delivery.

  • Motivates members to actively plan for retirement and help them understand and utilize the resources available that will assist them in establishing and achieving their financial goals.

  • Participates in training and educational opportunities for ongoing professional development and enhance professional skills.

  • Works on and may lead multiple projects within and outside of Member Education and reports to different project leaders prioritizing, organizing, and coordinating own workflow with minimal supervision, balancing independent work and team projects to achieve divisional and organizational goals and objectives.

  • Volunteers readily to assist when needed and willingly puts in extra time and effort in key situations

  • Maintains regular and prompt attendance, meet assigned deadlines, and actively engage in division events.

  • Responsible for achieving division metrics and standards as set forth by management

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • A combination of related education and experience equivalent to a minimum of one year; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

  • An understanding of financial concepts, basic investing, and retirement pensions is desired.

  • Proficient with standard software applications such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and Zoom. Willing to learn new technologies and adapt to changes in the work environment.

  • Polished speaker and presenter who can adapt to and interact with a variety of audiences on a variety of platforms.

  • Valid driver's license with excellent driving record preferred.

  • Effective relationship/case/account management skills and the ability to influence and inspire action

  • Desire and ability to contribute to and promote a collaborative, high performing team culture

  • Experience in understanding, interpreting, and distilling complex information into easy-to-understand concepts.

  • Independent problem solving and analysis while keeping manager informed as appropriate.

  • Ability to identify and consider multiple options before making decisions with an understanding of impact of decisions on others.

  • Detail oriented and ability to focus in a variety of work environments including a matrix reporting structure.

  • Adjusts quickly and effectively to changing conditions and demands. Adapts well to changes in procedures

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment with frequent telephone communication, computer operation, and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy and printer machine.

  • Occasional travel by car or plane as necessary for business purposes

  • Frequent transporting presentation materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

  • All employees are expected to present themselves in a professional manner in alignment with the financial services industry

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time

  • Ability to operate standard PC equipment

  • Ability to handle stress associated with frequent deadline and tight schedules

Hybrid Work Option

  • Opportunity to work from home up to two days per week. Eligibility dependent upon factors detailed in PERA's Work from Home Policy.
