Scientific Research Project Manager - School of Public Health (Finance)

Position Summary:

Participates in the preparation of strategic direction and oversees it implementation and resourcing including expansion of the geographic areas of the research of The University of Texas, Houston, Border Health Research Center (TBHRC) under the direction of Dr. North. Understands and communicates project direction to streamline and maximize information sharing around program progress, needs, interdependencies, and milestones among all project stakeholders. Streamlines operations - people, process, and data - to facilitate the timely execution and operation of program projects.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Participates in the development and oversees execution of strategic internal and external projects in collaboration the Principal Investigator and the TBHRC.

2. Allocates resources and guides their use by TBHRC staff in executing timely project deliverables.

3. Creates tools and processes and oversees their implementation to streamline operation efficiencies and foster seamless collaboration internally and externally.

4. Assists team members presentation skills and manuscript writing.

5. Supports the TBHRC and the program director by fostering a healthy working environment that cultivates innovation, education and productivity.

6. Maintains in-depth knowledge of our Program priorities

7. Participates and leads presentations and reports that represent the funded studies, North lab, and TBHRC at scientific conferences, steering committee meetings or other meetings as needed by the Principal Investigator and project.

8. Assists in the monitoring of scientific trends, developments, and advancements relevant to the North Lab and TBHRC.

9. Assist Dr. North in the development and expansion of the ongoing population health activities through the TBHRC.

10. Assist Dr. North in the identification and promotion of Border Health opportunities that include other UTHealth Houston components, state, and governmental agencies and additional academic partners across the UT System and beyond.

11. Other Duties as Assigned

Certification/Skills:

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite of applications and data analysis software. Expertise in data management. Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:
  • Bilingual

Minimum Education:
  • Research doctoral degree (PhD) or Candidate for Research doctorate degree (PhD(c)) with planned degree completion within 6 months.

Minimum Experience:
  • Two (2) years of experience working on funded research projects and clinical practice experience as a nurse or physician. Record of related research publications.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
