Youth Program Specialist (Hire Me) (Finance)

Youth Services:

We provide career development for youth, including: work readiness training, career exploration, certification attainment, and summer employment opportunities.

Position Summary :

The Youth Program Specialist provides career exploration and work readiness training for high school students who are enrolled in the HIRE Me Program. HIRE Me is an in-school program that teaches in-school youth the skills necessary to identify and pursue their early career goals. The Youth Program Specialist will travel to meet with
students in programming at their respective schools. This position will present strong leadership and mentorship qualities, strategic direction, and quality control for in-school activities. The Program Specialist is expected to develop integral business relationships that lead to internships, job shadowing, and job tours for youth involved in
YouthWorks programming. The Youth Program Specialist will facilitate retention support of youth placed in internships; monitor core activities' progress and effectiveness.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete enrollment paperwork for participants, filing and case noting necessary records in a timely manner.
  • Conduct on-going face-to-face meetings with participants to ensure quality service delivery and conduct progress reviews of goals in accordance with program/contract guidelines.
  • Assess and identify participant's strengths, barriers and needs by collecting in depth information about a participant's situation and functioning

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders (participants, schools, employers, funders, fellow Goodwill employees and departments, etc.) to ensure quality service delivery and successful outcomes, including attendance at meetings, training, etc. as needed.
  • Transport participants and/or materials/tools as needed to ensure participants and resources are fulfilling program requirements..
  • Implement necessary educational, behavioral, and/or developmental supports, including any identified assistive technology. Consult appropriate agency and school departments, as needed.

External hiring range: $18.25 - $18.98/hour

Travel required: Yes, local travel is required. 

Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00am - 4:00pm) some evenings and weekends will be required. Schedule can vary depending on department needs. 

Qualifications: 

    • High school diploma or equivalent AND 5 years of experience required. OR 
    • Associates' degree AND 3 years of experience required. OR
    • Bachelors' degree AND 1 year of experience required.
  • Required Degree(s): must be in Communication, Human Services, Education or Related field.

    Required Experience: must be related to working with low-income, at-risk, and/or adjudicated youth/young adults and/or experience with youth in foster care.

REQUIRED CLEARANCES, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel.
  • Candidates are expected to provide current valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) prior to first day of employment.
