Early Literacy Coach-Nemours Brightstart (Finance)



Nemours is seeking an Early Literacy Coach to join our team in Jacksonville, FL.

Primary Function

This position is part of Nemours Children's Health's National Office of Policy and Prevention and supports early literacy goals of the department and the health system. The position reports to the manager responsible for the Nemours Children's Reading BrightStart! (NCRBS!) team. The individual in the position will provide professional development, coaching and resources to enhance teaching practices and improve student outcomes among entities using the NCRBS! curricula. This person will ensure administrators at schools and early learning centers that purchase and implement NCRBS! curricula, and educators who will present the lessons, are confident and competent in using, tracking, and assessing use of materials with young learners. The position requires frequent travel throughout the specified region (Delaware or North Florida, with a focus on Escambia and Duval Counties) for meetings and events with stakeholders as well as intermittent travel in the U.S. for conference presentations and meetings with colleagues in other service areas.

Essential Functions

  • Relationship Development & Community Engagement - Developing positive and productive working relationships within Nemours Children's Health and community stakeholders, with an emphasis on current and potential users of NCRBS! curricula. Strengthening users' understanding of, and support for, implementation of NCRBS! products and services. Participating in community events, reading-related skills assessments, parent and/or partner workshops, and conference events, including some events that take place on nights and weekends.
  • Training and Coaching - Scheduling, delivering, and evaluating training and professional development sessions for schools and early learning centers that utilize NCRBS! curricula, with a focus on partners in the assigned geographical area of Delaware or North Florida, with a focus on Escambia and Duval Counties. Observing educators as they present NCRBS! lesson plans, then providing coaching and support to ensure successful implementation.
  • Assessment, Evaluation, Research - Working closely and proactively withschools and early learning centers that utilize NCRBS! curricula to ensure timely submission of correct, complete assessment data from schools and early learning centers where relevant. Actively participating in evaluation-related discussions. Based on interactions with schools and early learning centers that utilize NCRBS! curricula, providing input to discussions about evaluation and research findings, including ways to strengthen impact.
  • Strategic Planning - Continuously engagingNCRBS! users in conversations regarding training needs and barriers to use. Making note of successes, challenges, and opportunities observed while working with partners who use NCRBS! curricula, sharing these with the NCRBS! team for strategic planning purposes.
  • Content Development - Developing and/or refining training materials, learning modules and other program materials delivered in a variety of formats (web content, presentations, marketing materials, etc.).
  • Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
  • Position Requirements/Relevant Experience

    A master's degree is required, preferably in the field of Education. Actively enrolled in master's degree program, will be considered at leadership discretion.

    5+ years of experience in Early Childhood Education, Pre-K, or Primary. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a trainer or serving in a leadership role (grade level lead, etc.). This person should have experience with mentoring and/or coaching educators in classroom settings. The ideal candidate will have an energetic and engaging interpersonal style, strong communication skills, and possess a high level of motivation and positive attitude.
