*Cancer Rehab Research Coordinator (Project Management)

The Cancer Rehabilitation Research Laboratory (CRRL) Cancer Rehab Research Coordinator assists with research projects, ensures compliance with protocols and overall research objectives, evaluates the integrity of clinical data, and assists with preparing the data for analysis. Uses knowledge of scientific procedures to plan, design, conduct, and analyze experiments. The CRRL Research Coordinator works under the direct oversight of the SCC CRRL Program Director and Study PI, but must make real-time decisions for successful study conduct.

Duties:

  •  Planning, scheduling, and recruitment of patients who may be eligible to participate in the oncology clinical research program.
  •  Monitoring human performance assessments and making observations, including but not limited to taking detailed clinical history, performing physical exams, and completing patient data forms.
  • Performing routine or standardized research tests and supervising exercise training sessions.
  • Responsible for the initiation, organization, and handling of patient follow-up.
  • Preparing clinical data for analysis, presentation, or examination. Responsible for data management, including entry and storage in both paper and electronic mediums. Ensuring data are accurate and entry is completed in a timely manner.
  • Conducting special research studies.
  • Troubleshooting, modifying, and repairing experimental and laboratory products.
  • Preparing reports summarizing the results of experiments or the conclusions of research projects.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing supplies and work areas.
  • Keeping detailed records of all work-related activities.
  • May publish research.
  • May requisition or recommend purchase of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • May attend various meetings pertaining to the oncology clinical research program. May work to schedule meetings, create agendas, and record meeting notes/minutes for these meetings.
  • Conducts research of literature as needed.
  • Develops and assists in the generation of patient participant-facing materials. Creates internal resources to bolster team reliability.
  • Assumes lead role to ensure adherence to protocols.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree. AND:

  • 24 months research or laboratory experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.

Certifications or Licenses: none. 

Skills:

  • Proficient navigating and maintaining database
  • Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
  • Strong professional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
  • Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations

Working Conditions:

  • Physical:
    • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
    • Must be able to crouch, crawl, and reach.
    • Sitting for prolonged periods.
    • Manual dexterity.
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to walk for short or extended periods of time.
    • Ability to safely guard patient participants to ensure their safety. 
  • Environmental:
    • Research or laboratory environment or in the field & Standard Office Environment. 

Department Preferences: Education in Exercise Science or Human Performance related field is preferred, but not required.
