Medicare Individual Markets Consultant I/II/III (Rural Rochester Territory) (Finance)
Summary:
The Medicare / Individual Markets Consultant works cohesively within a team to increase the volume of Medicare and individual market health plan sales to individual consumers within an assigned territory. Utilizing strong relationship building techniques, the primary role of the Medicare / Individual Markets Consultant is to engage prospects, both individual and community organizations, in the sales cycle and obtain appointment commitment. As a visible emissary of retail market health plans, the incumbent professionally represents the Organization and its offerings, engendering confidence and commitment to professional standards.
Essential Accountabilities:
Level I
• Initiates sales opportunities to increase direct pay market share in a specified territory. Manages assigned monthly goals and adheres to pre-established quality measurements.
• Serves as a high-quality, clear, and concise communicator of Medicare product options to drive consumer understanding and confidence. Employs professional consultative sales methodology to present product offerings within the context of a given prospect's needs.
• Establishes relationships and partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs)/groups, including senior organizations, community centers, residences, associations, support groups and others to drive new business.
• Regularly visits Offices of the Aging, Senior Centers, and Chambers of Commerce to promote Excellus Medicare and look for partnership opportunities.
• Develops sales opportunities with individuals by means of personal and business partner referrals, leads generated via direct mail and Direct Response Television Marketing (DRTV).
• Ensures the successful implementation of business-driven sales and marketing plans to increase business.
• Identifies and participates in community and events, health fairs and programming related to retail market opportunities.
• Manages CRM system, tracks all prospects in the pipeline and updates all systems daily.
• Demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement through sharing of best practices across retail markets.
• Maintains current knowledge of Excellus Medicare plans, health care financing and delivery systems, CMS requirements, industry/consumer trends that could impact managed health care.
• Maintains knowledge of all Medicare products and competitive positioning, options and pricing to assist in educating targeted population. Researches and maintains detailed knowledge of competitors' offerings to better understand the Medicare landscape and the company's competitive advantage.
• Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
• Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.
• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
• Performs other functions as assigned by management.
Level II (in addition to Level I Accountabilities)
• Works with Commercial Sales to Identify educational opportunities and/or Medicare 101s with Excellus Employer Groups.
• Develops and delivers presentations that include complex medical information; ensures content/delivery is tailored to the target audience.
• Assist with external marketing and media opportunities.
Level III (in addition to Level II Accountabilities)
• Works with cross functional groups to develop and deploy new sales strategies.
• Leads team discussions and review of best practices.
• Participates in annual peer-to-peer training sessions with each field sales representative. Assists mentoring and training new team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
NOTE: We include multiple levels of classification differentiated by demonstrated knowledge, skills, and the ability to manage increasingly independent and/or complex assignments, broader responsibility, additional decision making, and in some cases, becoming a resource to others. In addition to using this differentiated approach to place new hires, it also provides guideposts for employee development and promotional opportunities.
Level I:
• Four or more years of experience in a sales or government programs environment, or Associates degree with two or more years of professional experience. A combination of advanced education and experience will be considered.
• Valid NYS Accident and Health License required within six months of employment. Employees without a license are not eligible for any sales incentive awards or contests. Any sales made while not licensed are not eligible for incentive compensation.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to interface with individuals and groups of varying sizes. Demonstrated sensitivity to interacting and communicating with the Medicare eligible market.
• Strong business, planning, and time management skills including proven ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently (regional and consistent travel required) and ability to work flexible schedules.
• Strong PC skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Level II (in addition to Level I Qualifications)
• Six or more years of experience in a sales or government programs environment, or Associates degree with four or more years of professional experience. A combination of advanced education and experience will be considered.
• Valid NYS Accident and Health License required.
• Managed Care, related health care, and/or insurance experience required.
• Existing community partnerships and referral sources desired.
• Demonstrated group presentation skills; demonstrated ability to present complex medical information in a manner that is understandable to the target audience.
Level III (in addition to Level II Qualifications)
• Eight or more years of direct, consumer-centric sales experience with a proven track record, or Associates degree with six or more years of sales experience. A combination of advanced education and direct sales experience totaling eight years will be considered.
• Proven production with a minimum of three years' experience of documented success as a top tier producer (sales representative of the year, team of the year accolades).
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work prolonged periods sitting and/or standing at a workstation and working on a computer.
• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.

Compensation Range(s):
Level I (E1) Minimum: $60,410 - Maximum: $84,000
Level II (E3) Minimum: $60,410 - Maximum: $106, 929
Level III (E5) Minimum: $71,880 - Maximum: $129,384
