Maintenance Director (Maintenance)



Maintenance Director - Arvin Post Acute
Location: Arvin, CA
Starting Salary: $50,000/year
Status: Full-Time

Arvin Post Acute is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Director to lead our Maintenance Department and ensure our facility remains safe, well-functioning, and compliant with all regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled leader who enjoys problem-solving, coordinating teams, and maintaining a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, and direct the overall operation of the Maintenance Department.
  • Develop and maintain written maintenance policies, procedures, and schedules.
  • Coordinate maintenance services with other departments (Dietary, Nursing, Activities, etc.).
  • Conduct daily and weekly rounds to inspect work areas, storage rooms, equipment, and systems for upkeep, safety, and compliance.
  • Ensure proper supervision and completion of all maintenance work, including that performed by outside vendors.
  • Assist with infection control procedures and identify job functions with potential exposure risks.
  • Participate in government surveys/inspections and develop plans of correction for deficiencies.
  • Supervise safety and fire protection programs; ensure all staff follow safety regulations and use proper protective equipment.
  • Maintain MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and ensure hazardous chemicals are properly labeled, stored, and handled.
  • Monitor supply usage to avoid waste and stay within budget.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage the Maintenance Department budget and maintain financial records.
  • Respond promptly to equipment or facility damage and coordinate timely repairs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and assist with emergency preparedness and evacuations when needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance or plant operations role.
  • Strong knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and knowledge of building codes/safety regulations.
  • Must be licensed in accordance with applicable standards, codes, and labor laws.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and respond to emergencies.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Regular walking, standing, and hands-on equipment inspection required.
  • Noise level is generally low to moderate.
  • May be required to assist with resident evacuation during emergencies.
