Specialist, Safety - Weekend Night Shift (Finance)

Weekend Night Shift, Sunday - Thursday, 10:00pm - 06:30am

As the Safety Specialist, you will establish and reinforce a culture of health and safety that prevents accidents and injuries within the work place, as well as ensure that all corrective measures are implemented when required. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Develop and establish a culture of health and safety in the workplace by preparing and enforcing policies
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and ensure compliance with the law
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters, and accident prevention, including communicating data from the weekly Operations Management Report
  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
  • Partner with maintenance personnel to inspect equipment and machinery, and observe possible unsafe conditions
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root causes
  • Recommend solutions, improvement opportunities or preventive measures
What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • 1 year of related work experience
  • Experience preparing and presenting safety reports
  • Experience in safety and health
It'd be great if you also have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to clearly communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills, especially leading and motivating others to implement new processes
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to multitask and strong attention to detail
