Quality Trainee (Biotech)



Summary: 

The intern will support the needs of manufacturing, quality, and research & development by conducting targeted quality and safety initiatives focused on Kier operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with laboratory testing to support manufacturing, sales, and R&D.
  • Record and analyze test data under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Learn and follow company safety standards and procedures.
  • Participate in quality inspections and data collection.
  • Develop a report outlining measurable concentration ranges of kier liquor (Scour, Bleach, Finish) by kier and recipe, to support quarterly titration testing.
  • Conduct five (5) safety risk analyses (Job Hazard Analyses - JHA) related to Kier operator functions.
  • Identify and document five (5) quality improvement opportunities.
  • Present findings and recommendations at the end of the internship.

Education/Experience:

Pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Quality, or a related field.

Language Ability: 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:

Office Suite software.
