Quality Technician (Biotech)



Purpose:  To help facilitate patient preventive care visits to ensure that Western Wayne Family Health Center meets and exceeds “quality of care” indicators as well as HEDIS, UDS, Meaningful Use and other measures.

PART I:        ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTION AND DUTIES

  1. Supports the Quality Director and the Quality Specialist in all duties to ensure quality health care is provided to all patients.
  2. Compiles data on clinical performance measures as identified by Quality Director and the Quality Specialist.
  3. Conducts outreach to patients in need of services through written and telephone correspondence; notifies patients of needed services and facilitates scheduling of appointments.
  4. Responsible for conducting periodic quality audits and reviews, including but not limited to medical record audits for immunization and other preventive services compliance.
  5. Assists with monitoring of Patient Centered Medical Home, HEDIS, UDS and Meaningful Use reporting
  6. Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives.
  7. Use the results of data collection efforts to make improvements and updates to existing practices and programs.
  8. Link outreach program plan goals and objectives to organizational goals and objectives as well as generate monthly reports for discussion, review and follow up with WWFHC Quality Director and the Quality Specialist.
  9. Learn new technologies related to Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record systems as well as any reporting tools.
  10. Plans and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction.
  11. Collaborates with staff on quality principles and the value of meeting and exceeding quality standards by:
    1. Coordinating with ongoing processes to allow for Continuous Quality Improvement.
    2. Overseeing the continued development and implementation of initiatives.

PART II:     EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Medical Assistant training preferred.
  3. One (1) or more years of experience in quality, customer service, or data management role.
  4. One (1) year experience in a clinic or medical office, preferred.
  5. One (1) year experience working with an electronic medical records system, preferred.

PART III:     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Have experience with Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR).
  2. Understand Vaccine for Children (VFC) eligibility, screening documentation, and billing practices (administration Fees).
  3. Knowledge on developing a Vaccine Management & Emergency Response Plans.
  4. Ensuring management plans are reviewed and updated at least yearly.
  5. Familiar with documentation of vaccine temperatures and calibration checks on Digital Data Logger (DDL).
  6. Oversee the management of vaccine inventory.
  7. Ensure all staff that handle vaccine are adequately trained on vaccine storage and handling procedures.
  8. Understand the process and reporting for vaccine loss, waste, borrows and returns.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel.
  10. Strong understanding of medical terminology.
