Lecturer - Engineering Data Science and AI (Finance)

Description:

The Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position to teach graduate-level courses in data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning as part of the Master's and Certificate program in Engineering Data Science and AI offered by the Cullen College of Engineering.

Interest and expertise in teaching courses such as the following are desirable.
• Probability and Statistics
• Machine Learning
• Digital image processing
• Big Data Analytics
• Artificial intelligence
• Data Mining
• Natural Language Processing

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track position. Appointments are made on an annual 9-month basis and salary is commensurate with experience.

The responsibilities include (1) teaching three courses relevant to the Engineering Data Science program per semester, (2) contributing to service and administrative tasks as required in the program.

Engineering Data Science and AI is a broad field that encompasses predictive modeling and data-driven design of engineering systems. The demand for graduates with a data science and AI background is already high and is growing rapidly across a wide range of industries worldwide. Houston, being the energy capital of the world as well as the home of a thriving healthcare industry, is also seeing a persistent demand for workforce well-trained in data science. To provide state-of-the-art training for a data-centric workforce, the Cullen College of Engineering offers a Master of Science in Engineering Data Science and AI. A post-graduate Certificate in Engineering Data Science and AI is also offered to cater to working professionals interested in developing expertise in data science. Qualifications
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in a relevant area of physical sciences or engineering with research or work experience in the field of data science.
