Creative Design Lead (Finance)



The Creative Design Lead is responsible for the creative development and execution of print and digital solutions that unify our products, services, and communications. As part of the Creative Content team, this role understands how to execute brand and marketing strategy from conception to delivery of marketing materials, event promotions, philanthropy campaigns, websites, digital signage, environmental displays, print pieces, conference materials and experiences, executive presentations, and other projects.

Through a human-centered design approach, the Creative Design Lead will collaborate with brand, end-users, designers, the design director, marketing associates, content curators, and clinical/non-clinical business partners. Reporting to the Creative Design Manager, this role will define the design language and visual conventions that contribute to the heartbeat of our products and services. The Creative Design Lead will have an impeccable design sense with a passion for solving complex problems and creating elegant solutions that engage and delight our patient families.

Essential Functions:

  • Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.
  • Design Thinking: The Creative Design Lead is genuinely interested in designing beautiful experiences that impact the lives of our patient families. Through the application of design thinking, this role encourages designers to explore, define, and communicate through nonlinear dimensions that manifest into design artifacts (i.e., sketches, prototypes, competitive analysis, etc.).
  • Design Strategy: Be able to move beyond project deliverables to systems thinking, putting frameworks and processes in place to facilitate and foster great design thinking, research and collaboration with brand and marketing teams. Contribute to strategic growth not just technically, but also along the lines of team culture and growth. Use systems thinking to ensure work has far-reaching impact and set the vision for the company's creative work. Have deep understanding of the business impact of creative work and be able to communicate the value of research and design to directors and executives. Provides ideas to connect the brand across traditional and digital platforms to meet strategic goals.
  • Visual Storyteller: The Creative Design Lead can develop clear, persuasive stories for a wide range of audiences, including business partners and stakeholders. This individual brings data to life and spurs audiences into action - via print and digital applications. The Creative Design Lead is proficient in a variety of methods to convey ideas and concepts (i.e., storytelling, storyboards, mood boards, prototypes, infographics, etc.).
  • Digital Sign Production: Responsible for design production and governance of the Nemours digital sign platform and assets. This individual partners with the Creative Design Manager and internal stakeholders to envision visual strategies that meet intended outcomes.
  • Brand Standards & Web Conformance (WCAG 2.0): The Creative Design Lead must ensure that all print, photography, and digital assets comply with our brand standards and conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (Section 508). The Creative Design Lead will provide art direction and work collaboratively with agencies, vendors, and other Nemours business partners during photo shoots.
  • Brand Identity Developer: Responsible for creating and unifying content marketing, visual design, and user experience to create a holistic brand experience. Champion brand positioning and ensure compliance at every point of contact for the enterprise's Masterbrand, sub-brands, and strategic initiatives. Create digestible brand guidelines and accessible templates and update brand guidelines and templates as appropriate or necessary.
  • Agile Practitioner: The Creative Design Lead enjoys working on Agile teams with other designers, content curators, marketing associates, and business partners / stakeholders. This individual can adapt Agile principles (i.e., estimate time, track production in JIRA, participate in reviews / retrospectives, etc.).
  • Strong Communicator: The Creative Design Lead will be tackling JIRA tasks submitted by a business partner or marketing specialist and vetted by the Creative Design Manager. This individual must be able to keep track of multiple projects at once from initial conceptualization through project delivery - includes managing vendor relationships and production, both external and internal.

  • Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree required, preferable in creative, graphic, or visual design field.

    Requires 10+ years work experience in creative or visual design role.

    Extremely proficient in Adobe CC design software (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, etc.) as well as digital signage management software (ScreenScape, Spectrio). Ability to work from low fidelity to high fidelity. Ability to create layouts and digital assets for web, social media, print, signage, environments, email, and other communication channels.

    Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic Agile team environment. Ability to switch rapidly from one project to another, as workflow requires. Strong organizational and time management skills are a must. Can comfortably assess and manage a high volume and variety of projects with aggressive deadlines. Provides coaching and mentorship to other internal / external design team members, as needed (i.e. participate in recruitment process, assist with onboarding, etc.).

    Solid understanding of human centered design. Ability to partner cross-functionally to involve human perspective in all phases of the design process (i.e. user research, journey maps, personas, user flows, prototypes, interaction patterns, etc.). Research the latest technologies, best practices, and online trends to provide recommendations for the Design Services team.

    Strong understanding of print production (i.e. pre-press, color separations, 2- and 4- color process with offset printing, obtaining estimates, bidding jobs, paper specs, etc.); web production (i.e. web color theory, basic web design in CMS-based web development environments, digital web assets, etc.); and digital signage (i.e. display control software, image / video inventory, equipment and network infrastructure, deployment, etc.). Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and responsive design frameworks is a plus.

    Practitioner of b uilding and maintaining working files inside a collaborative file structure. Continually adopting new tools and practices as the work evolves. Experience working within established brand and style guides. Interest in helping govern digital guidelines and flex system where needed.
