The Lab Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all laboratory operations, ensuring safety and quality. The Lab Manager reports to the Vice President of Operations.
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, or related field
Ten years of laboratory experience preferred
Five years previous experience leading a team
Experience with cost center budgeting, employee evaluation, laboratory development, employee/workload scheduling;
Experience with gravimetric analysis, titrimetric analysis and instrumental techniques (especially Atomic Absorption -Perkin Elmer and Agilent).
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple workloads
Very proficient using MS Excel
Ability to climb a short ladder to complete light maintenance on equipment
Valid Driver's license
Proven safe workrecord.
Ability to be self-directed, team-oriented and work with minimum supervision required.
Responsibility for the safety and oversight of Montana Resources lab facilities and staff of eight.
Effectively schedule and manage employees and student interns.
Interact with MR's customers and complete assay exchanges.
Develop new laboratory methods as necessary.
Order & manage inventory - acids, chemicals, consumables, etc.
Estimate costs and provide an annual operating budget.
Update lab procedures and training manuals.
Maintain quality assurance program.
General maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
Periodically operate as department chemist assigned to of atomic absorption, gravimetric molybdenum, titrimetric copper analyses.
