Business Data Analyst (Finance)
- This is a salary exempt position.
Develop and maintain business reporting suite utilizing internal and external data sources. Utilize internal and external data sources to develop and maintain a comprehensive business reporting suite. Serve as the key point of contact for the creation and upkeep of new and existing data views, tables, and sources. Build, develop, and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation tools, dashboards, and performance metrics that support key business decisions. Oversee the data and report request process, including tracking submitted requests, prioritization, and approvals. Lead cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analytical techniques to uncover insights that guide strategic decisions and identify optimization opportunities.
Drive data governance within the division . Implement best practices for data generation, storage, accuracy, and consumption within the Pet Food division. Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, BI, and Sales Operations teams to ensure accuracy in source-of-record data certified for use across the broader organization. Develop a roadmap for integrating new data sources in partnership with key stakeholders, enabling automated, blended data sets. Ensure that all new processes align with the organization's standardization and data governance initiatives.
Deliver business analytics & insights. Develop, deploy, and maintain data sets, reports, and processes across the business unit at varying levels of detail. Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly trends across customers, segments, production locations, and more, highlighting exceptions and surfacing actionable information. Communicate gaps to the plan and collaborate with partners to mitigate them. Serve as both a student and a teacher in the art of data architecture, enabling the creation of fact-based insights and recommendations from large data sets in a concise and compelling manner.
Accelerate continuous improvement and automation of reporting, dashboarding and tools. Drive the ongoing enhancement and automation of reporting, dashboards, and analytical tools. Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, mining, engineering, modeling, visualization, and communication deliverables. Participate in planning and lead the implementation of multiple complex projects simultaneously. Identify gaps in data sources and support initiatives to eliminate irregularities, inconsistencies, and anomalies.
Collaborate with senior leadership and peers. Partner with senior leadership and peers across Sales, Marketing, Demand Planning, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to ensure visibility into business performance aligns with cross-functional needs. Responsibilities will include routine reporting maintenance, ad hoc requests based on business needs, and proactive initiatives driven by opportunities identified by the Manager of Business Analytics & Insights. Educate and train team members across the Pet Food business unit on data structures and tools to promote engagement in self-service analytics.

Serve as an active clearinghouse for ideas, concerns, and activities on behalf of the full commercial team. Act as a champion for both the business and the team, providing leadership and advocacy. Function as an idea leader by developing compelling, persuasive business cases that ensure alignment and secure broad-based support and resource allocation for team initiatives.
Participates as a member of the team. Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons operating systems principles and objectives : Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facility.
Travel : Travels as needed; to and from multiple facilities, sometimes requiring overnight stays.
Technical Experience : 2-3 years of relevant experience in data analysis, business intelligence, process engineering, or other relevant areas. Proficiency in querying, exploring, and managing data using SQL. Familiarity with data warehouses, ETL pipelines, data modeling, and data visualization tools such as Tableau. CPG or retail experience preferred.
Industry Experience : High velocity consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, warehousing, or retail background.
Minimum Education : Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Science Engineering or related field, equivalent training, or 4 years' experience.
