Collateral Specialist (Finance)

Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and/or business knowledge and functional expertise across range of Collateral products and services. Execution of strategic direction of the business function activities through collaborating with Product Owners, Agile teams, Operations and Technology partners to deliver servicing solutions that meet ever-evolving client and industry demands.

Role involves supporting our client's needs while ensuring service support models are both scalable and resilient.

Key responsibilities:

  • Representing the Collateral business in multiple projects and initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Working with Prospects and Clients to gain an understanding of the client needs and the implementation of solutions accordingly.
  • Working closely with Operations, Change & Technology teams to determine and implement solutions to effectively address business challenges.
  • Onboarding of new client business and/or products & services for existing clients.
  • Serve as a key subject matter expert and mentor to other more junior level employees across the business

Knowledge / Skills

  • An agile mindset and broad business/technical background.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills (ability to analyze data between and across multiple systems).
  • Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view.
  • Should come from a Collateral Operations and Fund Services background.
  • Should have project/change management experience as a BA or Project Manager.
  • Willingness to work and collaborate in team environments and with peers across Operations, Technology, Product and Client Service and Change Management groups.
  • Possesses excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgement skills.
  • Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity while carrying out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.

Major Duties

  • Develops relationships with key partner groups.
  • Act as subject matter expert and primary contact for inquiries, new business opportunities and new projects across broad range of Collateral products & services.
  • Provide support to Sales team with New Business pitches where required.
  • Analyze and interrogate data between multiple systems.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with team member to create slide deck presentations / materials.
  • Ensures compliance with all audit, risk, security, and control requirements including change control procedures and data security.
  • Consults with business unit partners to determine the most effective solutions to solve business problems or address business needs. May also work closely with business unit partners to define and review Service Level Agreements and to ensure services meet or exceed business needs.
  • Communicates with various business areas and outside vendors, consultants, and clients regarding automation needs.
  • Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise.
  • Coordinates and participates in training presentations with clients or prospects, virtually or in person.
  • The ideal candidate should have a fair amount of the following qualities:
  • Previous experience in financial services
  • Proven experience in Collateral experience operations, and/or proven experience in a change management function
  • University degree or relevant work experience; MBA or Master's degree is relevant field is preferred.

Salary Range:
$114,700 - 194,900 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
