Cardiology Certified Medical Assistant, Full-Time 7:30a-4:00p Mon-Friday, no weekends or holidays (Food Services)



SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant is trained to provide care in the clinic setting to patients under the supervision of APRN, APCs and Physicians. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

Prepares patient for examination.Note health history or the reason for visit in the patients chart.Take and record height, weight and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, temperature, allergies and drug sensitivities. Review home medications and notify nurse of changes.Assist the clinical staff in completing examination and procedures as instructed.Completely fill out lab slips and other forms, as necessary.Administer medications and injections as ordered using the Five Rights of Medication Administration as directed.Assist the medical staff in patient education.Screens patient phone calls and calls patients back with instructions or orders from M.D., D.O., PA or APRN.Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, visitors and other employees.Organizes and prioritizes daily assignments to provide optimal patient care and increase productivity.Assists in chart preparation for upcoming clinics and helps complete post procedure follow up calls with patients.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports directly to the Director of Cardiology.

While performing the duties of this job, employees the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works with explosive, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification (I), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Hold a current Certified Medical Assistant license from an accredited organization and be in good standing.

2. Current BLS certification must be obtained within 60 days from their date of hire.
