About the Role Position: HVAC Helper (Commercial Systems) Location: Manhattan, Kansas Employment Type: Full-Time Are you passionate about starting your journey in commercial HVAC maintenance? As an HVAC Helper at LB&B Associates, Inc., you'll get hands-on experience supporting our expert technicians in maintaining the systems that keep our buildings comfortable, safe, and energy efficient. You'll assist in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of state-of-the-art HVAC equipment while learning the ropes from some of the best in the business. What You'll Do Gear up for a dynamic and rewarding entry-level role where every day is a learning experience. Key responsibilities include: · Assist experienced HVAC technicians with the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC systems, including air handling units, VAV boxes, split systems, and related controls. · Support scheduled and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency. · Help troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues under the guidance of senior team members. · Monitor building automation systems (BAS) and learn how to make basic adjustments for optimal performance. · Respond to service calls and emergencies, providing hands-on support and learning best practices for repairs. · Assist in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to support accurate work procedures. · Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment readings, and materials used. · Collaborate closely with the HVAC team, building engineers, and outside vendors to coordinate repairs and upgrades. · Help maintain inventory of HVAC supplies, tools, and parts to ensure readiness for daily operations. · Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements to maintain a safe working environment. · Deliver friendly and professional customer service to clients, tenants, and coworkers as you learn and grow. What We're Looking For Do you bring a strong work ethic and a passion for learning? We're searching for candidates who offer: · High school diploma or equivalent (required); enrollment in or completion of an HVAC technical program is a plus. · Some experience with basic hand and power tools; mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. · Interest in HVAC systems--prior exposure through coursework, internships, or summer jobs is a plus, but not required. · Ability to follow instructions, work well in a team, and take initiative on tasks. · Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. · Physical stamina and dexterity to perform hands-on work, including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various conditions (heights, confined spaces, hot/cold environments). · Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. · Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, including some overtime or after-hours work as needed. · Commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and ethical conduct. Physical Demands · Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed. · Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching throughout the shift. · Manual dexterity and mobility for assisting with operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment. · Exposure to mechanical/electrical hazards, heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions--with full PPE provided.
