Base pay in range will be determined by applicant's skills and experience. Full-time associates in role are also eligible for an annual bonus incentive. Temporary associates are not benefits eligible but may participate in the company's 401(k) program.

  • Undergraduate degree in finance or business required, MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of finance experience, including five years of being the head of investor relations with proven experience of presenting to executives and the company's Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrated experience in best-in-class investor relations processes and methodologies.
  • Strong existing relationships with the investment community.
  • Financial acumen with working knowledge of financial statements and analytical methods. Ability to understand and communicate complex financial issues including internal and external financial models.
  • Strong familiarity with current SEC and fiduciary disclosure requirements.
  • Possess the strategic skills necessary to best position the company to the investment community.
  • Demonstrated success in creating and articulating recommendations/opinions.

    Brookdale is an equal opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace.The Vice President, Investor Relations is accountable for creating and presenting a consistently applied investment message to the investment community on behalf of Brookdale, and for monitoring and presenting to executives the opinions of investors regarding the company's performance. This role is responsible for maintaining strong, relationships with the financial community to nurture and expand relationships, and for raising Brookdale's external profile as an industry and thought leader. This role works closely with Brookdale's Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and members of the CEO's Executive Leadership Team to translate the company's mission, cornerstones, strategy, growth opportunities, and business initiatives into meaningful messages in a way that creates clarity, consistency, and widespread understanding among investors and sell-side analysts.

  • Work with the CEO, CFO and executive leadership team to develop a strategic communication plan to deliver to the investment community (includes conferences, non-deal road shows, group/one-on-one meetings and investor day events), and prepare presenters for these events.
  • Create/oversee content for quarterly earnings calls, including earnings call scripts, investor presentation, Q&A, and guidance model. Based on feedback from investment community discussions, make recommendations for key messages and presentation changes. Work closely with the CEO and CFO in preparation for earnings. Work with finance, legal and communication counterparts to review and align messages for press release, 10-Q/10-K, supplement and internal news.
  • Perform a comprehensive analysis of Sell-Side models, valuations and financial metrics. Summarize for, and discus with, executives.
  • Develop short and long-term strategies to attract and inform investors and analysts in a manner that communicates the company's strategy, as well as operational and financial performance, while establishing realistic expectations for future performance.
  • Share strategic messages through the creation of the annual report wrap and ESG report.
  • Monitor and summarize key industry developments based on discussions with investors, sell-side, and from public information. Perform a comprehensive competitive analysis, including financial metrics and points of differentiation. Oversee the quarterly earnings peer analysis (Peer Summary) prepared by the FP&A team and issued to executives.
  • Analyze quarterly SEC 13-F filings to determine movement of shareholders. Report summary to executives and the Board of Directors.
  • Weekly insights report: Stay apprised of market opinions, attitudes and reactions to company and industry trends through discussions with investors and sell-side, along with individual research. To keep executives informed, prepare weekly update (IR Insights report) on financial market intelligence and significant issues and trends.
  • Advance and drive strategic targeting program to identify and attract potential long-term investors who have investment objectives that match well with the company's financial characteristics.
  • Lead and coordinate activist/investment community crisis communications. Monitor overall risk landscape and tracks evolving issues to reduce risk.
  • Build positive long-term relationships with sell-side and buy-side analysts. Respond to daily inquiries from the investment community, in compliance with the company's disclosure policies and applicable SEC rules and regulations. Maintain detailed notes on top shareholder discussions, and high-level notes for other investor discussions.
  • Manage external relationships such as the NYSE, designated market maker and stock surveillance representatives.
  • Work closely with the Communications Team to align key messages, including but not limited to CEO TV & news interviews, press releases, and award submissions.
  • Develop strong relationships with operations leaders in various departments to understand operational progress and new developments. Provide insights from the external view of the company and assist them with various projects & strategic communications to build a symbiotic working relationship.
  • Refresh: Annually analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of current investor relations strategies and programs. Recommend changes to continue to enhance the IR program. Review and refresh IR website, policies and procedures at least annually.
